Pelvic pain
A Message from Belia McNabb PT, DPT, Owner, and Founder of Quantum PT and Wellness
Several factors in a woman’s life can result in pelvic floor dysfunction. For instance, childbirth can stretch muscles and nerves excessively, damage connective tissue, lead to prolapse, alter pelvic positioning, and reduce muscular contractions’ effectiveness due to scar tissue. Hormonal changes throughout a woman’s lifespan can also affect the functionality of the pelvic floor. Various traumas, such as falls, car accidents, surgical side effects, or negative sexual experiences, can contribute to pelvic floor dysfunction, resulting in pain and/or incontinence. Some women and girls may be born with overly tight muscles, leading to pain and incontinence. Conditions like endometriosis, interstitial cystitis (painful bladder syndrome), and pudendal neuralgia often manifest as pelvic pain, painful sex, and incontinence.
It is estimated that around 25% of women experience pelvic floor disorders. As age increases, the likelihood of developing such disorders also rises, with approximately 50% of women experiencing them by the age of 80. Incontinence is a major cause of admission to nursing homes. While it is common, it should not be considered normal or accepted as an inevitable part of the aging process. It is important to take the initiative to address these issues when they first arise.
At Quantum PT and Wellness, we can help you identify the underlying cause of your specific problems and create a personalized program to address your specific dysfunctions. Our treatment options include:
- Myofascial release therapy
- Techniques for relaxation
- Pelvic floor muscle coordination with the rest of the body
- Dry Needling
- Pelvic Floor Strengthening
No Need to Tolerate It Any Longer. Quantum PT and Wellness Is Here to Help.
- Are you tired of dealing with urine leakage (incontinence) while running, jumping, or going about your daily activities?
- Are you worried about persistent postpartum back, hip, or pelvic pain?
- Do you feel self-conscious, frustrated, or disheartened since giving birth, believing that regaining control of your body is impossible?
- Are you struggling to keep up with your children and feeling like you're missing out on life?
- Does a lack of confidence weigh on you because of core issues, Diastasis Recti, or an appearance of still being pregnant despite not being so?
- Are you frustrated by unsuccessful attempts with other approaches, even from different physical therapists, or unsure about what to try next?
- Are you seeking a long-term, natural solution to permanently resolve these issues without relying on medications or undergoing surgery?
Have You Ever Received These Messages?
- Your doctor advises you to rest for six weeks and then resume your normal activity, but you're still struggling even after months or years.
- You're told to follow YouTube workout videos to get back in shape quickly, but these workouts cause pain and leakage, leaving you feeling terrible and discouraged.
- It's considered "normal" to experience pain or abdominal separation after giving birth, and you're told that everyone struggles with bladder control as they age.
- Taking pain relievers is supposed to solve everything and make everything fine.
- You're led to believe that medicine, surgery, or simply "dealing with it" are the only options available.
The Truth Is…
- Resting alone won't bring long-term relief. While it may provide temporary respite, returning to your regular activities will likely result in continued pelvic pain, leakage, and other postpartum symptoms (you've probably already experienced this firsthand!).
- Although it's widespread, experiencing persistent pain or urine leakage after pregnancy is NOT NORMAL, regardless of your age.
- Pain relievers can be addictive, and risky, and may lead to various other health problems.
- Remember, medicine, surgery, and injections are not your only choices. They might be the only options your doctor has presented to you, but there are alternative approaches available.
Quantum PT and Wellness: Your Solution for Leakage, Sex Pain, Low Back Pain, and Mummy Tummy - No Pills, Pads, or Surgery Needed.
Choosing the right healthcare provider is crucial. Making the wrong choice puts you at risk of unnecessary surgery, reliance on medications or painkillers, or a lifetime of worsening symptoms.
Opting for the most natural and least invasive treatment is essential in overcoming issues like leakage, abdominal separation, pelvic floor problems, or postpartum hip/back/pelvic pain. Equally important is working with a provider who understands the interconnectedness of the body as a whole. Our bodies undergo incredible transformations throughout life, and addressing changes in the neck, back, diaphragm, core, pelvic floor, pelvis, posture, strength, and overall body usage is vital. It goes far beyond simple Kegel exercises!
For a complete recovery, it’s crucial to not only treat the symptoms but also investigate the root cause of your symptoms and dysfunction. By working with an expert who is committed to finding the underlying cause, you’ll receive a long-term solution to your problems.
Quantum PT and Wellness Introduces a Three-Step Process to Eliminate Postpartum Symptoms and Provide Lasting Relief.
STEP 1 - YOUR STORY MATTERS
The current healthcare system can be frustrating. Waiting weeks or even months for an appointment, only to have a brief interaction with a doctor who rushes through your concerns, leaving you bewildered and uncertain.
At Quantum PT and Wellness, we operate differently. We value your time, goals, and well-being. That’s why our first step is dedicated to hearing your story.
We understand that every individual is unique, especially when it comes to postpartum issues. Each person has a distinct body, history, and set of pain and symptoms. By engaging in an open conversation, we provide you with the opportunity to share your experiences. This allows us to gain a comprehensive understanding of not just the physical aspects but also the impact these issues have on your life.
By listening attentively, we lay the foundation for a personalized and effective treatment plan that addresses your specific needs and aspirations.
STEP 2 - UNCOVERING THE ROOT OF YOUR SYMPTOMS
Many individuals receive medical terms or diagnoses to explain their bodily issues. It could be a diagnosis from a doctor, test results, or information found online. Terms like prolapse, Diastasis Recti, Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, Incontinence, Sacroiliac (SI) Joint Pain, or Hip/Back/Pelvic Pain might have been attributed to your condition.
You may have been informed that resting, taking medication, or waiting were your only options.
While these measures might offer temporary relief, they fail to address the underlying cause of the problem.
Each person’s pain or symptoms stem from a unique source. No two individuals have the same problem caused by the same factors.
At Quantum PT and Wellness, our objective is to identify the root cause of your problem to not only alleviate your pain but ensure it stays away.
We understand that you may still have doubts or reservations about Integrative Physical Therapy. To address this, we have introduced the free Discovery Visit. Yes, that’s right! Your first session is completely on us!
Our Discovery Visits are tailored for individuals who are skeptical, uncertain, or have experienced disappointment in the past. During this visit, you will learn the underlying issue, and the expected duration of treatment, and gain confidence that your problem can be resolved naturally!
STEP 3 - OVERCOME THE PROBLEM & AVOID ITS RETURN
This is the stage where significant transformations occur. We design a personalized plan that empowers you to:
…resume exercising without the fear of pain, stiffness, or bladder control issues – yes, even activities like running and jumping!
…engage in playtime with your children effortlessly, lifting and carrying them without any difficulties.
…reignite intimacy in your relationships without the worry of discomfort.
…return to your beloved active lifestyle, whether it’s yoga, running, tennis, or any other activity you enjoy.
…reclaim your strength, confidence, and even your sense of allure as your body heals from Diastasis Recti/Abdominal Separation and regains full core strength.
Our ideal clients are those who are motivated and eager to regain their active lifestyles, even if they feel stuck at the moment.
